Prep Football : Estancia Foils Conversion Try to Win, 21-20

Estancia High School stopped a two-point conversion late in the game Friday to score a 21-20 victory over Laguna Hills in front of 1,200 at Mission Viejo High School.
Laguna Hills pulled within one point on a 70-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Mike Helm to wide receiver Darrin Chapman with 3:09 left in the game. But fullback Robert Choi was tackled at the one-yard line on the conversion attempt.
The Eagles (2-0) scored 14 points in the fourth quarter to overcome a 14-7 halftime deficit. Laguna Hills is 0-2.
Coach John Liebengood’s Eagles were led by fullback Josh Wojtkiewicz, who gained 143 yards in 22 carries and scored one touchdown.
Wojtkiewicz’s one-yard touchdown run with 6:46 left and Mike Bunker’s kick tied it at 14-14. Daniel Petrone’s three-yard run with 3:27 left and Bunker’s kick increased Estancia’s lead to 21-14.
Estancia needed just five plays to score with 10:14 left in the first quarter on halfback Gary Burrows’ 17-yard run.
