Morse 25, Chula Vista 10--Jessie Campbell scored touchdowns on runs of 17 and 27 yards and ran for 145 yards on 18 carries to lead visiting Morse (2-1). Teammate Derrick Greene scored a touchdown and rushed for 85 yards. Chula Vista quarterback Derek Chapman completed 14 of 31 passes for 139 yards. John Krupp caught seven of Chapman’s passes for 57 yards. Chula Vista is 0-2.

Orange Glen 21, Escondido 14--Fullback Ryan Strather scored on runs of one and two yards to lead No. 4 Orange Glen (2-0) at Escondido (0-2). Jake Nyberg caught 7 passes for 76 yards and a touchdown and Cree Morris was 13 of 23 passing for 176 yards for Orange Glen. Shane Copeland rushed 19 times for 114 yards for Orange Glen.

Helix 35, Valhalla 3--The visiting Norsemen scored first on a field goal in the second quarter, but Helix scored five unanswered touchdowns to win. For the Highlanders, quarterback Tory Winrow was 8-for-14 passing for 95 yards. Running back Spike Mitchell carried 14 times for 145 yards.

St. Bernard 26, Sweetwater 19--With the visiting Vikings ahead 26-19, Sweetwater had the ball most of the fourth quarter and couldn’t score. Sweetwater’s Tana Lepule carried 16 times for 184 and had one reception for 33 yards. Sweetwater rushed for 309 of its 352 total yards.

University of San Diego High School 35, Hoover 7--Steve Walker scored five touchdowns to lead No. 10 USDHS (2-0) at Hoover (1-1). Walker took the opening kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown, scored on runs of 4, 6 and 2 yards and caught a 21-yard scoring pass from Anthony Massa. Walker caught 7 passes for 75 yards and rushed 9 times for 42 yards. Massa was 20 of 32 for 152 yards.

San Dieguito 38, Patrick Henry 21--Adam Knox carried 16 times for 201 yards and San Dieguito gained 352 yards rushing to beat visiting Patrick Henry. Knox scored on touchdown runs of 74 and 2 yards in a game filled with big plays. Patrick Henry (1-1) got interception returns of 92 yards by Mike Chapman and 60 yards by Shannon Webb and a 76-yard touchdown run by Kevin Bradley. San Dieguito (2-0) scored on Knox’s 74-yarder and Mike Henry’s 83-yard punt return. Finally, San Dieguito broke a 21-21 tie on a 61-yard pass from Bryan Thistle to Chris Houk late in the third quarter.

Fallbrook 42, San Marcos 21--Glen Whitner led Fallbrook with four touchdowns. Fallbrook quarterback Kelly Fieux completed 14 of 17 passes for 215 yards and two touchdowns.

Carlsbad 35, University City 28--Thadd MacNeal threw three touchdown passes--two to Mike Brock--and Ron Williams scored on runs of 71 and 45 yards for host Carlsbad. MacNeal and Brock hooked up for a 26-yard touchdown pass in the last minute to give Carlsbad the win. Carlsbad is 2-0 and University City is 1-1.

Mission Bay 15, San Diego 7--Mission Bay’s Keith Berkeley returned a fumble 32 yards for a touchdown and Brian Miranda passed 6 yards to Jason Surdy for another. Mission Bay (2-0) held San Diego (0-1-1) to 52 yards rushing.

Granite Hills 45, Grossmont 20--Brian Giles rushed for 120 yards on 21 carries and scored on runs of 3 and 7 yards and an 82-yard punt return for host Granite Hills. Giles scored all three of his touchdowns in the first half as Granite Hills (1-1) built a 24-8 lead. Brant Glasener, subbing for Giles in the second half, scored on runs of 90 and 55 yards and defensive back Robby Christian intercepted two passes, both setting up touchdowns. Grossmont (1-1) closed to 10-8 in the first quarter on a 35-yard interception return by Jeremy Chiuchiarelli and a two-point conversion run by Rick Daynes, but Granite Hills scored the next 21 points.

St. Augustine 14, Coronado 10--Jason Alcoser scored on a 16-yard run with 4:30 remaining to lift visiting St. Augustine (1-1). Rich Bledsoe kicked a 31-yard field goal and recovered a punt for a touchdown to help Coronado (1-1) take a 10-0 halftime lead. Alcoser finished with 97 yards rushing for St. Augustine, which had 212 yards on the ground.

Mountain Empire 10, Palo Verde 0--Plutarco Vail rushed for 174 yards on 25 carries, including a 2-yard sweep for the only touchdown of the game, to lead Mountain Empire (1-1) at home against Palo Verde of Blythe.

Army-Navy 28, Sherman 3--Gabe Corona completed 7 of 8 passes for 105 yards to lead Army-Navy. Steven Ray added 68 yards on 13 carries to help Army-Navy amass 262 yards intotal offense. Army-Navy linebacker Kevin Draucker had 12 tackles and 3 sacks.
