PREP FOOTBALL : Dominguez Wings It, Tops Saddleback
The Saddleback High School football team ran into an old-style double-wing offense Friday night and took an old-style beating, losing, 20-7, to host Dominguez.
Saddleback did not score until 7:12 remained in the third quarter, when Saddleback quarterback Jeff Blanko passed 50 yards over the middle to Chuck Mosley to make it 20-7.
Two plays after Dominguez recovered a Saddleback fumble at the Saddleback 27 and an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty moved the ball to the 13, William Logan’s run with 4:37 left in the first quarter put Dominguez up, 6-0.
In the second quarter, Dominguez struck for a 76-yard touchdown run by Ken Barnes. Logan then ran the ball around the left side for a two-point conversion to put Dominguez up, 14-0.
“‘We were in a stunt (blitz) and one guy didn’t hear the the call, which created that hole,” Saddleback Coach Jerry Witte said.
