Clark Drives In 4 Runs as Giants Pound Reds’ Jackson for 6-1 Victory
Will Clark drove in 4 runs with his 29th home run and a single, raising his National League-leading runs-batted-in total to 109 as the San Francisco Giants beat the Cincinnati Reds and Danny Jackson, 6-1, Wednesday night.
Atlee Hammaker (9-9) pitched a complete-game 6-hitter to win San Francisco’s final home game of the season.
Jackson (23-8) allowed 10 hits and 6 runs in 5 innings. He remained tied with the Dodgers’ Orel Hershiser for the major league lead in victories.
Hershiser was taken out of his game with the San Diego Padres after breaking Don Drysdale’s record of 58 consecutive scoreless innings, shutting out the San Diego Padres for 10 innings without a decision.
Cincinnati clinched second place in the National League West for the fourth straight year as the Houston Astros lost, 4-3, in 17 innings to the Atlanta Braves.
