Pepperdine Women Spikers End Lady Lions’ Win Streak
Loyola Marymount University’s five-match volleyball win streak came to a halt Thursday night as Pepperdine gave up only 19 points in winning the women’s contest at Gersten Pavilion, 15-3, 15-5, 15-11.
The teams were tied for the West Coast Athletic Conference lead. The Waves, now 3-0 in the WCAC, have won 18 straight conference matches going back to 1986. Pepperdine is 4-8 overall. Loyola fell to 2-1 in the WCAC and 6-7 for the season.
Hitter Tami Seidenberg led the Waves with 13 kills and 10 digs. Lisa Bevington added 7 kills, and setter Laura Fort provided 23 assists. For Loyola, Leslie Wohlford had 7 kills and 10 digs. Pepperdine leads the overall series, 14-4.
Loyola next plays a non-conference match Saturday night at Fresno State.
