L.A. Lutheran 34, Antelope Valley Christian 16--Quarterback Ted Durnerin, pressed into service when Darren Brown became ill just before the game, passed for 1 touchdown and ran for another to lead the Lions in the 8-man Heritage League opener for both teams at L. A. Baptist.

Village Christian 31, Orange Lutheran 14--Drew Martenson threw for 2 touchdowns and Joe Everett ran for 2 in a nonleague game at Orange Lutheran.

Martenson passed for 196 yards and Everett rushed for 146 yards. Both of Martenson’s scoring passes came in the first half when Village Christian (5-0) rolled up a 17-7 lead.
