Local News in Brief : Garden Grove : 33 Arrested for Lewd Conduct, Solicitation
Undercover police officers have arrested 33 people for lewd conduct and solicitation during a three-night sweep of adult businesses along Garden Grove Boulevard, authorities said Monday.
The sweeps were conducted Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights along areas of the boulevard throughout the city where adult bookstores are located. However, none of the businesses were ordered closed, according to Garden Grove Police Lt. Ron Weigand.
He said that undercover officers entered businesses and surveyed activity in parking lots during the sweep and made 33 arrests. He added that some of the suspects were cited and released, while others, whose names were not released, were booked into the Orange County Jail.
Weigand said the action was prompted by residents’ complaints of lewd activity, congested traffic and increased litter around the businesses.
