Seattle Reportedly Offers Manager’s Job to Piniella
Lou Piniella, former manager of the New York Yankees, has been offered the manager’s job with the Seattle Mariners, according to published reports.
Piniella said he was offered a 3-year contract and will decide by the end of this week whether to accept, both the New York Times and the New York Daily News reported in Thursday’s editions. The newspapers said Piniella met Monday and Tuesday in Southern California with Seattle owner George Argyros.
Piniella, fired by the Yankees on Oct. 7, has a 3-year, $1.2-million personal services contract with Yankee owner George Steinbrenner.
