THE HIGH SCHOOLS : City Section Roundup : San Fernando Defense Stifles El Camino Real
San Fernando High held El Camino Real to 4 yards and quarterback Michael Wynn passed for 189 yards and 3 touchdowns as the Tigers posted a 22-7 Northwest Valley Conference victory Friday night at Pierce College.
Wynn, who completed 11 of 18 passes, tossed a 13-yard touchdown to Eddie Carrillo in the second quarter and an 8-yard score in the fourth to Sean Williams to put the Tigers ahead, 16-0, with 3 minutes left. Wynn’s final touchdown was a 54-yard pass to Jacque Smith with 1:54 left.
El Camino Real (2-4 overall, 1-3 in conference play) never crossed the 50-yard line with its offense and failed to capitalize on 2 turnovers inside San Fernando territory. The Conquistadores’ only score came on a 65-yard interception return by Chris Griggs.
Maurice McFarland rushed for a game-high 117 yards in 10 carries for San Fernando (4-3, 3-1).
