CS Long Beach Routed by Akron, 40-0
The respite from losing was brief for Cal State Long Beach, which upset Cal State Fullerton last week.
Sophomore Doug Lewis rushed for 129 yards Saturday as Akron University scored a 40-0 victory over Long Beach (1-6) in a nonconference game at Akron.
Mike Johnson threw 2 touchdown passes and ran for a touchdown to lead the Zips (3-5).
Gary Tyler intercepted 2 passes to set an Akron school record of 18 career interceptions, and Bob Dombroski’s 2 field goals brought his career total to 36, also an Akron record.
The Zips gained 567 yards, and the 49ers had 216 total yards.
