A fully loaded Mexicana Airlines DC-10 had to be evacuated at San Francisco International Airport when a nearby fuel truck burst into flames. No one was reported injured. An airport spokesman said the truck, containing hundreds of gallons of gasoline and diesel fuel, was “less than 100 feet, maybe 50 feet” from the jumbo jet. The airliner was evacuated and then was backed away from the gate. It departed from another gate after the passengers re-boarded. It was not known how many were aboard the aircraft or what caused the truck fire.
