High School Football : Holly Gains 306 Yards in Harvard Win

Marty Holly rushed for 306 yards and 2 touchdowns in 18 carries as Harvard buried Bell-Jeff, 41-21, Saturday night at Burroughs High to wrap up third place in the San Fernando Valley League.

Holly, who has been hobbled by assorted injuries most of the season, rushed for 212 yards in 9 carries in the first half and left the game early in the third quarter. The senior tailback had 12 runs of 10 or more yards.

Holly, who has 872 yards in 107 carries this season, ran 26 yards for a touchdown on Harvard’s first possession of the second half to give the Saracens a 31-14 lead.

Quarterback Scott Collins hooked up with Barry Burch on a 6-yard touchdown pass on Harvard’s next possession to make it 38-14.

Collins completed 5 of 7 passes for 90 yards and 2 touchdowns--both to Burch.

The Saracens (7-3 overall, 2-2 in league play) outgained the Guards (1-9, 1-3) in total offense, 532-204.
