A Point Made in Thran’s Defense

Share

Regarding your story exploring the running up of scores in high school football (“Points Not Well Taken,” Nov. 17), I was stunned to read that Coach Gary Thran of Harvard School was accused by the assistants on Coach Lawson’s staff at Chaminade of allegedly “shaking his fist” at Coach Lawson for running up the score.

Had you done your research properly you would have found that: (1) no such incident ever took place; and (2) Coach Thran has far too much class and dignity to commit an overt act such as that. Further, having had the pleasure of working with and for Coach Thran for five years, I can assure you his steely glare and silence are far more menacing than any cheap theatrics to which lesser souls might sink.
