In the Irvine tournament:

Woodbridge 49, Dana Hills 35--Junior guard Leslie Rathbun scored 14 points to lead the Warriors in a first-round game at Woodbridge High School.

University 38, La Quinta 35--Noelle Sase scored 10 points to lead host University in a first-round game. Susan Jalewalia scored 24 points for La Quinta.

Orange 45, Irvine 42--Laurie Sallinger scored 14 points to lead Orange (1-0) in a first-round game at Irvine High School.

In the Saddleback tournament:

Saddleback 59, Western 40--Melody Mayfield scored 34 points to lead the Roadrunners into the semifinals against Santa Ana.

In nonleague play:

Canyon 59, Estancia 58--Christa Ramirez made 2 free throws with 16 seconds left for host Canyon. Keri Erkenbrack had 20 points and 16 rebounds for Canyon (1-0). Shannon Suzuki had 14 points and 10 rebounds.
