Eddie Hill transferred from Burroughs High to Cleveland over the summer solely to gain the kind of exposure that might someday give him a shot at a college scholarship.

In Friday night’s semifinal game of the Amador Basketball Classic at Amador Valley High in Pleasanton, Calif., Hill opened more than a few eyes by scoring a game-high 38 points off the bench to lead Cleveland to a 90-82 win over Riordan of San Francisco.

Hill, a 6-foot junior guard, made 11 of 14 shots and 5 of 7 from 3-point range to help Cleveland rally from a 10-point first-quarter deficit. Hill, the only Cleveland reserve to score in the game, had 16 points in Cleveland’s 32-point second quarter.
