THE PREPS : Girls’ Basketball Roundup : Bickel Scores 19 to Lead Brea-Olinda
Center Allison Bickel scored 19 points to lead Brea-Olinda High school to a 92-25 victory over Temple City Tuesday in a nonleague girls’ basketball game at Brea-Olinda.
The Wildcats (9-0) led, 32-17, at the end of the first quarter and outscored Temple City, 20-3, in the second quarter for a 52-20 halftime lead. Brea’s starters didn’t play after the first quarter.
Cathy Lewis scored 12 points, Jinelle Williams 11 for Brea. Gwen Vecchio and Chaeli Pritchard each scored 10 for Brea.
In the Cypress tournament:
Mater Dei 56, Millikan 43-- Mary McCarthy scored 23 points and sophomore forward Melissa McDonald added 10 points and 10 rebounds for Mater Dei (4-2), which led at halftime, 33-20.
In the Santa Barbara tournament:
Fountain Valley 50, St. Joseph 40--Stacy Hisaka and Rene Lanbrigger each scored 13 points to lead the Barons in a consolation game. Fountain Valley (5-3) trailed, 25-24, at halftime, but outscored St. Joseph, 10-6, in the third quarter.
In nonleague games:
Regina Caeli 61, Sonora 39-- Linda Dunnings and Sandy Caldwell each scored 22 points to lead Regina Caeli (5-2) at Sonora (2-6).
Loara 58, Tustin 31--Michelle Rowland scored 18 points to lead host Loara (8-3).
