St. Bernard center Ed Stokes averaged 28 points in four games to lead the Vikings to the championship of the Beverly Hills tournament. The 6-11 senior, named tournament MVP, had 34 points, 23 rebounds and 10 blocked shots in the final, a 65-61 win over Rolling Hills.

Loyola Marymount’s Hank Gathers pulled down a career-high 18 rebounds and scored 27 points in a 136-103 loss to Oklahoma. The 6-7 junior ranks among NCAA leaders in both categories, averaging 32 points and 15 rebounds a game.

Jaymie Bradford, Jennifer Stone and Erica Henderson each scored a goal to help Hawthorne (7-0) defeat Mira Costa, 3-1, and reach Friday’s final in the South Torrance Holiday girls soccer tournament against South.
