Boys’ Basketball Roundup : Swanwick Leads Trabuco Hills’ 61-52 Victory

Senior forward Rick Swanwick scored 17 points to lead Trabuco Hills High School to a 61-52 victory over Tustin Friday in a nonleague boys’ basketball game at Trabuco Hills.
The Mustangs (7-5) trailed, 29-28, at halftime but outscored the Tillers, 15-10, to take a 43-39 lead.
Chad Poulus scored 16 points for the Mustangs. Swanwick also had a game-high 15 rebounds.
Darren Stieler scored 19 points and Cheavly Ly 11 for Tustin.
In other nonleague games:
Newport Harbor 75, Costa Mesa 29--Chris Lee scored 18 points and Scott Gray 16 to lead Newport Harbor (11-4) at Costa Mesa. Gray also had 10 rebounds. Tim Nguyen scored 16 points for Costa Mesa. Craig DeBusk scored 11 points for Newport Harbor.
Western 65, Bellflower 51--Senior guard Sam Sabbara scored 18 points, including four 3-pointers, to lead visiting Western (10-3). Senior forward Joe Romero added 17 for Western. The score was tied at the half, 24-24, and Western trailed, 42-38, after three quarters.
Savanna 66, Glenn 32--Mustapha Abdi, a sophomore forward, scored 23 points to lead Savanna (14-1) at home. Jim Priest added 12 for Savanna, which led, 20-4, at the end of the first quarter and, 35-10, at the half.
In the Express League:
Gethsemane Baptist 59, Claremont 48--Larry Harold scored 17 points to lead Gethsemane Baptist (7-0, 4-0) at the Huntington Beach Boys’ Club. Rick Vogtman scored 15 points for Claremont (3-5, 0-3).
