THE PREPS : South Coast League Roundup : Irvine Holds Off El Toro for 65-56 Victory

John Molle scored 20 points and Bryan Allred added 17 to lead Irvine High School to a 65-56 victory over El Toro Friday in a South Coast League basketball game at Irvine.

Irvine (19-3, 5-1) led, 18-8, after 1 quarter. El Toro pulled to within 7 at halftime, 32-25. Irvine outscored El Toro, 14-11, in the third quarter to take a 46-36 lead.

Todd Trout scored 14 points for Irvine.

Khari Johnson scored 16 points and Rob Johnson 11 for El Toro (12-9, 2-4).

Capistrano Valley 95, San Clemente 38--Scott McCorkle scored 25 points to lead the host Cougars (16-4, 6-0). Capistrano Valley led, 26-8, after 1 quarter and 56-13 at halftime. Nick Kost scored 19 points and Chris Kostoff 15 for the Cougars. Eddie Morgan scored 13 points for San Clemente (4-14, 1-5).

Mission Viejo 57, Dana Hills 43--A balanced attack led the host Diablos (8-11, 3-3). Mission Viejo led, 27-22, at halftime then outscored the Dolphins, 16-9, in the third quarter to take a 43-31, lead. Jim Butchko scored 10 points to lead Mission Viejo. Eric Cramer, Nick Cramer, Matt Tanner and Damon Williams each scored 8 points for the Diablos. Mike Fedden scored 18 points for Dana Hills (13-10, 1-5).
