Valley 75, Cuesta 52--Tory Stephens scored 15 of his game-high 25 points in the first half of the WSC game at Valley.
Stephens, a freshman from San Fernando High, made 3 3-point shots in the first half as Valley took a 45-25 lead. Teammate Andre Bouvay also played well, scoring 10 of his 15 points in the opening half.
The victory was the seventh in the last 8 games for Valley (17-9, 7-2), which is ranked 15th in the state by the J. C. Athletic Bureau.
Allen Cullors scored 16 points to lead Cuesta (2-22, 0-9).
Santa Monica 62, Moorpark 49--Bruce Watson scored a team-high 16 points for Moorpark, which made only 15 of 44 field-goal attempts in the WSC game at Santa Monica.
Trailing, 28-19, at halftime, Moorpark (15-10, 5-4) failed to score in the first 5 minutes of the second half.
Steve Murphy, who has made 24 consecutive free throws for Moorpark, did not attempt a free throw and finished with 4 points.
First-place Santa Monica improved to 18-4, 7-0 in WSC play.
WOMEN
Valley 77, Cuesta 51--Christine Rumfola, a freshman guard from Burbank High, scored a team-high 15 points for Valley in the WSC game at Valley.
Center Ruth Aguilar had 13 points for Valley (22-3, 7-1), which maintained a share of first place in the conference with Santa Monica.
Freshman forward Sandrine Rocher added 10 points for the Lady Monarchs.
Santa Monica 62, Moorpark 60--Moorpark rallied from a 14-point deficit with 4 minutes remaining, but the Lady Raiders were unable to overtake the conference co-leaders in a WSC game at Santa Monica.
Kerrie Marshall, a freshman forward from El Camino Real High, scored a team-high 23 points and had 10 rebounds for Moorpark (17-7, 5-3).
Santa Barbara 54, Glendale 52--Carrie Lebundy scored 12 points, including both ends of a 1-and-1 free-throw situation with 8 seconds remaining, to lift Santa Barbara past Glendale in a WSC game at Glendale.
Ventura 78, Canyons 68--Traci Scoggin scored 19 points and Suzanne Hoag and Kathy Criss each added 16 points to lead Ventura (16-8, 5-3) in a WSC game at Canyons.
Tressie Millender scored a game-high 29 points for Canyons (3-15, 2-7) and Debbie Barnard and Kristine Dickey added 14 and 13 points, respectively.
