Cal Lutheran 12-22, Christ College 2-0--The Kingsmen (9-3) collected 33 hits in their home park to win a pair of NAIA District 3 games.

In the first game, catcher Anthony Espitia hit two home runs and Darnell Mitchell and Leonard Matsumoto each hit one to pace a 13-hit attack. Craig Anderson pitched a complete-game two-hitter with four strikeouts.

In the second game, Cal Lutheran stroked 17 singles and three doubles. Henry Campos was four for seven with three RBIs. Jeff Brouelette was three for four with three RBIs.

Greg O’Neil (3-0) pitched five innings and yielded one hit to record the win.

Pierce 18, Moorpark 7--Doug Johns was four for six, including a double and a two-run home run, as Pierce won a Western State Conference opener.

Pierce’s Billy Morris was four for five, including two triples and three RBIs. Pete Dragaloski struck out four and allowed three earned runs.

Cal State San Bernardino 4-6, The Master’s 0-5--Dub Kruse doubled in Paul Gonzalez with one out in the sixth inning to break a 5-5 tie in the second game of the nonconference doubleheader at San Bernardino.

Master’s scored four runs in the third inning but was unable to protect the lead.

With one out in the fourth, Master’s Jeff Cole doubled and scored on a single by Craig Johnson. Mark McArthur followed with another double with Johnson stopping at third.

Jeff Preston drove in both runners with a single and went to second on the throw to the plate. Preston scored on Darren Beck’s single.

SOFTBALL

Cal State Northridge 11, Stephen F. Austin 1--Debbie Dickmann struck out three and walked one in pitching a complete-game five-hitter for the Lady Matadors in the Las Vegas tournament.

It was Dickmann’s eighth consecutive win.

Leslie Plank was three for three with two RBIs for Northridge (11-7).

Dickmann (9-2) earlier pitched a one-hitter for her seventh shutout as Northridge (11-7) defeated Utah, 3-0.

Northridge lost to San Diego State, 2-0, to begin the day. Michelle Wilson pitched a complete-game four-hitter for the Aztecs.

College of Canyons 5, USC 2--Debbie Rendall’s two-run double sparked a five-run fifth inning for the Lady Cougars in a nonconference game.

San Joaquin Delta 2, Moorpark 1-Pinch-hitter Tammy Lanci punched a game-winning, two-run single with two out in the seventh inning of a quarterfinal game of the Bakersfield tournament. Audra Olive drove in Julie Myers in the sixth inning for the Lady Raiders’ run.

In earlier games, De Dow (9-3) pitched Moorpark to a 3-0 victory over Bakersfield and a 2-0 win over defending state champion Sacramento City.

Missy Cress’ safety squeeze drove in Audra Allen with what proved to be the game-winning run in the third inning against Bakersfield.

Cress had a run-scoring single and Kris Singer had a suicide squeeze in the sixth inning in the victory over Sacramento City.
