A 27-year-old Marine collapsed and died during a three-mile run that was part of a semiannual physical fitness test, a spokesman at the Barstow Marine Logistics Center said. According to base officials, Darryl Eugene White of Montgomery, Ala., was near the halfway point of the run when he collapsed. The fitness test consists of pull-ups, sit-ups and the three-mile run, officials said. The San Bernardino County coroner’s office planned an autopsy.
