Local News in Brief : Laguna Beach : Fire Severely Damages House and Kills Cat
Fire of undetermined origin gutted several rooms and the attic of a single-family home about 1 p.m. Wednesday, authorities said. The family’s cat died in the blaze, but her four kittens were rescued, firefighters said.
Laguna Beach fire officials estimated total damage at $230,000, with $180,000 to the structure and $50,000 to the contents of the home in the 1200 block of Starlit Drive.
Firefighters said the blaze caused severe damage to the kitchen and family room downstairs, and also gutted an upstairs room and the attic. The blaze was brought under control in about 20 minutes, firefighters said.
