Billy Fitzgerald hit and pitched Katella High School to a 4-3 victory over Cypress Wednesday in a Empire League baseball game at Boysen Park.
Fitzgerald had three hits, including two triples. He also scored two runs and had two runs batted in.
Fitzgerald (2-0) pitched five innings, allowing five hits. Chris Drummond pitched the final two innings for his second save.
Katella (6-4 overall, 2-0 in league play) took the lead in the first inning on a two-run single by Fitzgerald. Cypress (0-1-1 in league play) tied the score, 2-2, in the second on a fielder’s choice by Robert Prince and a single by Darren Adlesh.
In the fourth, Fitzgerald led off with a triple and scored one out later on a sacrifice fly by Brandon Boone. In the sixth, Fitzgerald again led off with a triple and scored on a sacrifice fly by Jess Evans.

Loara 5, Esperanza 3--Joey Gaudio had a double and two RBIs for Loara (3-7, 1-1) at Esperanza. Jason Bates had three hits for Esperanza (6-2-2, 0-1-1).
El Dorado 9, Los Alamitos 7--El Dorado (10-3, 2-0) scored three runs in the top of the seventh to take a 9-6 lead. Dave Moore squeezed home the go-ahead run. Moore also had a two-run homer in the fourth. Phil Nevin had three hits and three RBIs for El Dorado.
In the Freeway League:
Fullerton 18, Buena Park 1--D.C. Olsen had a three-run home run and two doubles and Ladd Brunner added a solo home run for host Fullerton (4-6, 1-1), which had 21 hits. Joe Cloutier and Lee Green had four hits each. Green had five RBIs and Cloutier had three.
Sunny Hills 6, La Habra 0--Brent Smith (4-0) pitched a six-hitter, striking out three, for Sunny Hills at La Habra. Jeff White had three hits and a RBI for the Lancers. Mike Morris had two hits for La Habra (5-3, 1-1).
Troy 12, Sonora 6--Greg Windle pitched a four-hitter and allowed three earned runs for host Troy (7-2, 2-0). Tho Nguyen had three hits, scored three runs and had five RBIs. Tom Wilson had three hits including two doubles, scored two runs and drove in one run for Troy. Sonora is 4-7, 0-2.
In the Garden Grove League:
Kennedy 16, Bolsa Grande 3--Visiting Kennedy (9-3, 1-0) had 16 hits and Bolsa Grande made eight errors. Kennedy led, 3-1, after five, but Kennedy scored eight unearned runs in the sixth. Greg Hansell (4-1) pitched the first five innings for the victory and had three hits and an RBI. Ernie Franco hit a pair of solo home runs also for Kennedy. Chip Kovach had two hits for Bolsa Grande (7-4, 0-1).
La Quinta 4, Rancho Alamitos 2--Corey Giuliano (6-1) pitched a five-hitter, striking out four, for the Aztecs (11-1-1) at Rancho Alamitos. Jason Parsons had two hits and scored a run for La Quinta. Tim Mora had two hits for Rancho Alamitos (5-3, 1-1).
Los Amigos 10, Garden Grove 2--Matt McCready had a three-run homer and an RBI single for Los Amigos (4-8, 1-0) at Garden Grove.
In the Orange League:
Savanna 6, Magnolia 5--the Rebels (2-0 in league play) scored two runs in the top of the seventh for the victory. Tony Treul had two hits and two runs scored for Magnolia (3-9, 0-2).
Valencia 11, Anaheim 4--Rick Gress had two hits, and scored three for host Valencia (5-2, 1-1). Paul Castillo had a three-run double to give Valencia a 6-4 lead in the third inning. John Garcia (2-0) pitched the last five innings for the victory. Anaheim is 1-1 in league.
In the St. Paul tournament:
Servite 11, Queen of Angels 0--Glenn McCracken had two hits and four RBIs to lead Servite in a consolation semifinal game at home.
