6 Children Die as Fire Sweeps Mobile Home

REMBERT, S. C. —
Fire swept through a crowded mobile home in a rural area near here, killing six children 10 years old and younger, authorities said. Five other children and an adult escaped the fire early Sunday.
Fire Chief Larry Causey said 11 children and an adult were in the doublewide trailer when the blaze started early Sunday. Willie English, the grandfather of 10 of the 11 children, escaped unharmed along with children ranging in age from 5 to 15. The cause of the fire was being sought.
