In other Freeway League games:

Fullerton 4, La Habra 2--Luis Palomares, a sophomore, made the most of his first varsity start, allowing six hits and striking out three for visiting Fullerton. D.C. Olsen was two for three with a double for Fullerton (7-5-1, 4-1).

Sonora 11, Buena Park 3--Stewart Cochran went three for four to lead host Sonora. Cochran scored three runs, had a double and a three-run homer and had four RBIs. Andy Beisel was three for three for Sonora (5-9, 1-4). Buena Park is 0-5 in league play.

In the Century League:

El Modena 2, Foothill 1--The Vanguards (6-6, 4-1) scored two runs in the top of the seventh for the victory. Jason Wakefield walked to lead off the inning and Marcus Esposito followed with a double into the right-field corner to tie the score, 1-1. One out later, Cale Shepard tripled to right-center field for a 2-1 lead.

Santa Ana 3, Santa Ana Valley 2--Octavio Medina hit a two-run homer with no outs in the bottom of the seventh to give the Saints (8-7, 3-2) the victory. Mark Delariva had an RBI single in the seventh for Santa Ana.

Villa Park 15, Canyon 4--Chris Johnson hit a grand slam and a three-run homer in the first inning to lead host Villa Park (8-7, 3-2) to an 11-run first inning.

In the Garden Grove League:

Pacifica 3, Bolsa Grande 2--Pacifica rallied with two runs in the fifth inning at Bolsa Grande. Two hit batsmen, two errors and two walks produced the runs for Pacifica (7-7, 4-0). Chris Shockely led Pacifica with two hits and also scored the game-winning run.

Rancho Alamitos 12, Garden Grove 5--Rod McCall had a two-run homer and four RBIs for Rancho Alamitos (8-5, 2-2) at Garden Grove. Paul Lee had three hits and three RBIs for the Vaqueros.

In the Orange League:

Magnolia 5, Brea-Olinda 1--Jody Clark went two for three and Jason Nester pitched a complete game for Magnolia at Brea. Nester had five strikeouts and gave up one walk and eight hits for Magnolia (1-4 in league play). Chris Briones went two for three for Brea (6-7, 2-3).

In the Olympic League:

Orange Lutheran 10, Capistrano Valley Christian 1--Kent Dowding (3-1) pitched five innings for the victory and also had two hits and two RBIs for host Orange Lutheran (6-7-1, 3-1).

In the Sea View League:

Estancia 8, University 3--Pitcher Gabe Javage gave up 14 hits, but hung on to win for visiting Estancia (10-5, 3-2). Javage had six strikeouts and two walks.

Tustin 10, Corona del Mar 2--Eric Grove had three hits and an RBI for Tustin (9-6, 4-1) at Corona del Mar.

In the South Coast League:

Capistrano Valley 7, San Clemente 3--Mike Mosebrook (6-1) pitched a complete game, striking out six, for host Capistrano Valley (10-5, 3-2).

Irvine 11, El Toro 4--Scott Vollmer had four hits and one RBI and Kevin Obergfell had three hits and two RBIs for the Vaqueros (7-6, 3-2) at Irvine.

Mission Viejo 4, Dana Hills 3--The Diablos (11-3, 4-1) scored three runs in the top of the fifth, two on a home run by Eric Ekdahl, to take a 4-2 lead at home. Mark Kania had a solo home run for Dana Hills (6-9-1, 2-3).
