Top Preps Will Play in Cage Classic

Several of the South Bay’s prep basketball standouts will play in the eighth annual KDAY Community Cage Classic tonight at Cal State Dominguez Hills.

The doubleheader begins at 6:30 with the girls game. All-CIF guard JoJo Witherspoon of state Division I champion Morningside heads the West team, which includes Neisha Williams and Illana Mazingo of Hawthorne, Sabrina Washington and Erica Lacefield of Leuzinger, Vicki Smith and Stasha Crawford of Inglewood and Erika Williams of St. Mary’s Academy.

South Bay players on the East are Diane Miyake of Carson and LaTisha Amos of Banning.

The boys game features 6-10 Cory Johnson and Tommy Holland of Inglewood and All-CIF forward Shawn Foster of El Segundo on the West squad. Dominguez Hills-bound guard Ray Bennett of Carson and Darryl McMillan of Gardena will play for the East.

Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for students with identification and $2 for children under 12. Proceeds will benefit the Watts-Willowbrook boys and girls clubs.
