Southern Section Baseball Playoffs : 4-A DIVISION

Cerritos 6, Notre Dame 1--Mike Mattingly hurled a five-hitter to stop the visiting Knights, who twice stranded two runners in an inning.

Sophomore Cary Wichmann (12-2) was tagged for a run in the first and roughed up for five more in the third on three doubles and two singles. Notre Dame (25-6) scored a run in the sixth when Kevin Crosby singled, stole second, advanced to third on a ground out and scored on a passed ball.

1-A DIVISION

Village Christian 3, St. Bonaventure 2--Kevin Ebenhoch hit a two-run double in the sixth to knock in the winning run for the Crusaders and senior right-hander Craig Hudspeth struck out four in the quarterfinal game at The Master’s College.

Chris Borchard’s run-scoring single in the third gave St. Bonaventure a 2-0 lead. The Crusaders (18-7) scored a run in the third before Ebenhoch knocked in the tying and go-ahead runs with a double in the sixth.

Village Christian will play Beaumont, a 7-5 winner over Crossroads, in a semifinal game Tuesday at at site to be determined.

SMALL SCHOOLS DIVISION

Rosamond 15, Highland Hall 1--P. J. Jackson threw a three-hitter and struck out 13 for the Roadrunners in the quarterfinal game at Cal State Northridge.

Jackson also homered twice, doubled and had four RBIs as Rosamond (22-2) snapped an 11-game Highland Hall win streak.
