Prep Baseball Quarterfinals Roundup : Hacienda Heights Wilson Edges Riverside Poly in 5-A

Mark Rushlow’s two run-scoring doubles led Hacienda Heights Wilson past Riverside Poly, 3-2, in a 5-A game at Wilson on Friday.

Rushlow’s RBI doubles came in the first and fourth innings.

Wilson (15-10-1), which finished third in the Sierra League, will play Long Beach Millikan on Tuesday.

Riverside Poly, the Citrus Belt regular-season champion, finished at 25-4.

Mammoth 14, Camarillo Christian 0--Danny Paranick pitched a no-hitter and had an RBI triple for Mammoth (11-9) in a small schools division game at Mammoth.

Paranick is 11-2 this season.

Clayton Frazier drove in three runs for Mammoth, which will play Cate in the semifinals Tuesday.

Lakewood 4, Fontana 0--David Reeser and Chris Miller combined on a seven-hitter for Lakewood (27-3) in a 5-A game at Lakewood.

Third baseman Ricardo Gutierrez led Lakewood with three RBIs, including a two-run home run in the fourth inning.

Reeser (11-1), a sophomore left-hander, was supported by double plays that ended rallies in the fourth and fifth innings.

Lakewood (27-3) will play El Dorado on Tuesday.

Glendora 6, San Gabriel 2--David Mowry (8-2) struck out 10 to lead the Tartans in a 4-A Southern Section game at San Gabriel.

Glendora (21-7) scored four runs in the first inning, getting three hits and benefiting from two errors by San Gabriel (15-9).

San Gabriel’s runs came on home runs by Dan Patterson. Glendora (21-7) will play Cerritos Tuesday.

Garden Grove Kennedy 7, Laguna Hills 2--Greg Hansell (12-1) struck out 10 and hit a home run for Kennedy in a 3-A Southern Section game.

Both of Laguna Hills’ runs were unearned. Scott Wood drove in two runs for Kennedy (23-5), will play Tustin on Tuesday.

South Gate 17, Los Angeles Wilson 2--Alex Mojarre, a freshman brought to the varsity level for the playoffs, tripled in two runs in the fourth inning to lead South Gate (11-5) in a City 3-A game at Wilson.

German Casillas went three for four with a triple and two singles to lead South Gate. Wilson finished at 14-3.
