Girls’ Softball Roundup

Templeton 7, Avalon 4--Coach Jerry Reynolds, who has won three Southern Section football titles, guided Templeton to its first softball title.

Teresa Schubert’s three-run triple highlighted a five-run seventh inning as Templeton overcame a 4-2 deficit. Shannon Savage’s ground ball to second base scored Barbara Cowne, who ran for Schubert, for the final run.

Freshman right-hander Amy Crabtree (18-7) held Avalon scoreless in the bottom of the seventh. Crabtree allowed three earned runs on seven hits and five walks. She struck out eight.
