Citing increasing budget problems, Athletic Director Fred Miller of San Diego State announced the indefinite suspension of the men’s and women’s track and field programs.
The university will honor all track scholarships and grants next year if the athlete chooses to remain at the school. Athletes who want to transfer will be permitted to compete immediately for their new schools.
Miller also announced the addition of a women’s soccer program, since the school needed another women’s sport to remain in the NCAA’s Division I.
