Sports Briefs : Catalina Ski Race Sunday
The 41st annual Catalina Ski Race, from Long Beach to Catalina Island, will be held Sunday morning.
More than 100 water skiers will compete in the race, which begins at 8 a.m. between the Grissom and White oil islands and ends at Shoreline Park.
Kasser Takes UCSB Job
John Kasser, who was athletic director at Cal State Long Beach from 1984 to 1987, has been named athletic director at UC Santa Barbara.
A former basketball coach at Downey High School, Kasser replaces Stan Morrison, who left to become basketball coach at San Jose State.
