A story in Thursday’s editions said there was one San Diego-area player remaining in the main draw round of 16 of the Boys’ 12s Junior National tennis championships. All area players had been eliminated at the end of the round of 32.

“I was surprised that I lost 6-love, but I knew I would probably win,” Phillips said. “I just started off pretty slow.”
