The Moorpark College football team is reknowned primarily for its defense, and for good reason. The Raiders had the top defense in the state last season.

But Moorpark can punish an opponent in other ways. Chief among them is running back Freddie Bradley, who lays vicious blocks for other Raider backs and delivers crushing blows when carrying the ball.

Bradley was unstoppable Saturday against Pierce, rushing for 191 yards and five touchdowns in 23 carries. The Raiders breezed, 47-10, and have outscored their opponents, 156-17.

The Raiders rang up a 35-0 halftime lead behind Bradley touchdowns measuring five, one, one and three yards. The freshman added a 30-yard score in the second half.

“He’s very dangerous because he’s so strong that he can break it any time,” Coach Jim Bittner said.

Moorpark faces its stiffest challenge Saturday against Bakersfield the defending national champion.

Freddie Bradley eagerly awaits the collision.
