Oceanside 24, Carlsbad 7--Terry Vaughn scored three touchdowns and rushed for 180 yards in 25 carries to lead Oceanside (3-3, 1-0). LeJon Jackson added 70 yards in 14 carries for Oceanside, which didn’t throw any passes. Carlsbad is 3-3 and 0-1.

Ramona 37, Escondido 0--Ramona rushed for 281 yards. Sarn Salmon had 23 carries for 132 yards and two touchdowns. Frank Thomas added 14 carries for 118 yards and one touchdown.

City Western League

Kearny 22, USDHS 6--Kearny built a 22-0 lead after the first series of the second half to win this game between two favorites to win the league title. Darnay Scott caught a 17-yard touchdown pass and a two-point conversion for Kearny (5-1, 1-0). Scott also had an interception when USDHS was threatening in the second half. The Kearny defense held Bryan Duplesis to 45 yards on 18 carries. Duplesis was averaging 101 yards per game. Kearny quarterback Tommy Rawlins scored twice on one-yard runs and threw for another score. USDHS is (4-2, 0-1).

University City 34, Clairemont 6--Anthony Hill threw four touchdown passes, including three in the first quarter, to lead University City (2-3, 1-0). Hill’s first TD throw went 80 yards to Jerome Price. Clairemont is 1-4, 0-1.

Mission Bay 26, La Jolla 0--With Mission Bay leading, 17-0, Brent Kirsten intercepted Craig Woodall’s pass in the fourth quarter. In the final minutes Schearon Stewart blocked a punt out of the end zone for Mission Bay. Stewart rushed 16 times for 75 yards. Pat Betancourt rushed 12 times for 62 yards and had one touchdown and a field goal for Mission Bay (5-1, 1-0). La Jolla is 2-3-1 and 0-1. Mission Bay’s county-leading defense has allowed only 21 points this season.

City Eastern League

Point Loma 27, Serra 0--Officials called the game with 2:41 remaining when Serra receiver Jason Crawford sustained a neck injury and trainers were unable to move him from the field.

Crawford was eventually taken by ambulance to Sharp Memorial Hospital where X-rays showed there was no fracture.

A hospital spokesman said Crawford, 17, “probably suffered no more than a bruise.”

No. 5 Point Loma (3-3, 1-0) was led by running back Marlon Manassa, who rushed for 96 yards and three second-half touchdowns, and by quarterback Dan White, who threw for 267 yards and one second-half touchdown in break a 0-0 halftime deficit. White was 14 of 20. J.J. Stokes caught four passes and on defense intercepted two and deflected two.

Mira Mesa 20, Patrick Henry 3--Wayne Pittman ran for 95 yards and two touchdowns on 20 carries and Mike Bovee kicked field goals of 32 and 37 yards to lead No. 10 Mira Mesa (5-1, 1-0). Marauder quarterback J.J. Rowlette completed five of 10 passes for 102 yards.

City Central League

St. Augustine 22, San Diego 13--Hunter Buckner rushed for 148 yards on 25 carries, and Barrett Pricor had 74 yards on 13 carries, including two touchdowns of two yards for visiting St. Augustine (4-2, 1-0). Saints safety Justin Williams had three interceptions and a fumble recovery. San Diego fell to 3-3 and 0-1.

Grossmont 2-A League

Grossmont 34, Valhalla 2--Valhalla took a 2-0 lead when Grossmont snapped the ball through the end zone, but No. 10 Grossmont (5-0-1, 1-0) then rolled at home. Eric Harter scored on a one-yard run and a 70-yard punt return, and Keith Price scored on a 69-yard pass and a one-yard run. Valhalla is 2-3-1 and 0-1.

Metro Conference

Hilltop 15, Castle Park 13--Chris Costello kicked a 22-yard field goal after an 80-yard drive with two minutes remaining to give host Hilltop (2-4, 2-1) the victory. Hilltop quarterback Jorge Munoz completed 12 of 24 passes for 165 yards and a touchdown. Castle Park is 3-3, 1-2.

Palomar League

Rancho Buena Vista 42, San Dieguito 23--Markeith Ross scored four touchdowns for top-ranked RBV (3-3, 3-0). O.J. Hall scored two touchdowns with runs of 53 and three yards for RBV. No. 9 San Dieguito is 4-2 and 1-2.

Mt. Carmel 29, Poway 6--Jeff Scott rushed for 133 yards in 22 carries to lead host Mt. Carmel (4-2). Mt. Carmel’s Mike Graves ran a fake punt 66 yards for a touchdown on fourth and 25. Poway is 3-3.

Desert/Coastal League

Holtville 7, Marian 0--Victor Zaragoza scored on a 2-yard run with nine minutes remaining for Holtville (6-0, 1-0). Marian dropped to 0-6, 0-1.
