Poway 21, Vista 20--Poway (4-3, 2-2) trailed 12-0 at half, but came back to defeat Vista (1-6, 0-4).

Ramona 21, Carlsbad 20--Carlsbad (3-4, 1-2) scored with 31 seconds left on Charlie Grant’s six-yard run, but quarterback Jesse Medina’s pitch to Grant on the conversion was behind him and recovered by Ramona (5-2, 3-1). Carlsbad’s Chris Greene caught four passes for 59 yards and two touchdowns and running back Will Bartch ran for 148 yards in 15 carries. Ramona quarterback John Capposola passed to receiver Todd Johnson for two of Ramona’s three scores.

San Pasqual 41, Escondido 14--San Pasqual scored 34 unanswered points, including 27 in the second quarter, to break a 7-7 tie at Escondido (1-6, 0-4). Cullen Owen scored on runs of five, 15 and two as San Pasqual (6-1, 2-1) rushed for 376 yards on 43 carries and held Escondido to 157 yards in total offense.

El Camino 27, San Marcos 14--Brian Madlangbayan ran for 115 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries as No. 4 El Camino improved to 6-1, 4-0. San Marcos, which did not score until the fourth quarter, dropped to 1-5, 0-3.

City Central

Crawford 36, Hoover 0--Tailback Peter Ervin ran 14 times for 134 yards and three touchdowns to lead Crawford at home. Ervin also threw for 29 yards to Vernon Shaver on a halfback option play. Shaver had three catches for 67 yards and a touchdown for Crawford (6-1, 2-0). Ervin scored on two one-yard runs and a 69-yard run. Hoover is 3-4 and 1-1.

City Eastern

Morse 44, Serra 13--Ututofo Faime ran for two touchdowns to lead No. 5 Morse (4-3, 2-0). Serra (2-5, 0-2) scored first on Ben Abrena’s 71-yard return of a fumble.

Patrick Henry 19, Madison 16--Trailing 16-6 in the third quarter, Patrick Henry (4-3, 1-1) started to turn it around when Dino Distefano scored on a 24-yard fumble return. Patrick Henry’s David Gregory rushed 19 times for 109 yards and had three receptions for 64 yards and two touchdowns, one of them an 11-yarder from quarterback Luke Lowrey to win the game. Lowrey was 11 for 18 for 197 yards. Madison dropped to 3-4, 0-2.

City Western

Mission Bay 26, University City 13--Of possible consolation to University City (2-4, 1-1) is the fact that 13 points are the most scored against the Section’s No. 1 defense this year. Mission Bay (6-1, 2-0) is giving up an average of 4.9 points per game. Offensively, Mission Bay was led by Shearon Stewart’s 119 yards and one touchdown on 18 carries and Pat Betancourt’s 101 yards and two touchdowns on 10 carries.

USDHS 20, La Jolla 0--Bryan Duplessis scored three touchdowns and gained 104 yards on 21 carries to carry the Dons (5-2, 1-1) at La Jolla. Nick Alford had 15 carries for 101 yards for La Jolla (2-4-1, 0-2). USDHS had 17 first downs and 252 yards rushing, but were also penalized 15 times for 195 yards nullifying two other touchdowns.

Kearny 42, Clairemont 0--Kearny (6-1, 2-0) remained in a first place tie with Mission Bay by shutting out Clairemont (1-5, 0-2) at Kearny.

3-A Grossmont

Monte Vista 31, Mt. Miguel 8--Ernie Reyes rushed 15 times for 119 yards and a touchdown and kicked a 35-yard field goal and four extra points to lead Monte Vista (4-3, 1-1). Curt Howard added 92 yards on 14 carries and Charles Whitehead 42 yards and a touchdown on 12 carries. Mt. Miguel is 3-3-1, 1-1.

Helix 14, El Capitan 6--Ale Campos scored on a 38-yard reception from Rob Ippolito for the first of two first quarter touchdowns for Helix (4-1-1, 1-0). Tracy Odom scored the other when he ran 50 yards with a fumble. Mark Smith kicked a 37-yard field goal in the first quarter and a 30-yard field goal in the third for El Capitan (0-6-1, 0-2.

Metro

Southwest 20, Mar Vista 0--Quarterback Andy Quinn completed eight of 17 passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns for Southwest (4-2-1, 3-0-1). Mar Vista dropped to 2-5, 0-4.

Chula Vista 54, Hilltop 28--The third-ranked Spartans trailed 21-14 at the half, but scored 20 points in the third and final quarters for the victory at Chula Vista. Quarterback Derek Chapman was 11 of 17 for 265 yards and three touchdowns, his best game this year for Chula Vista (6-0-1, 3-0-1). Daniel Johnson scored four times for Chula Vista on runs of 28 and three yards and on pass receptions of 14 and 92 yards and LeMar Bailey returned a punt 85 yards to open the second half. Eric Walker ran for touchdowns of four, eight and nine yards for Hilltop (2-5, 2-2).

Sweetwater 29, Bonita Vista 7--David Gregorio was 10 of 13 passing for 206 yards, including a 70-yard touchdown pass, to lead Sweetwater (2-5, 2-2). Willie Branch ran for 126 yards and a touchdown on 19 carries and Larry Meza had two interceptions for Sweetwater. Jason Garcia ran 20 times for 70 yards for Bonita Vista (3-3-1, 2-2).

Castle Park 20, Montgomery 6--Zack Tons carried 14 times for 124 yards and a touchdown for Castle Park (4-3, 2-2). Montgomery is 3-4, 2-2.

La Jolla Country Day 54, Julian 8--Rashaan Salaam ran for 116 yards and six touchdowns on 10 carries to lead Country Day.
