Crayton Runs Rancho Santiago by Golden West

Estrus Crayton rushed for a career-high 222 yards and scored three second-half touchdowns, leading Rancho Santiago College to a 24-6 victory over Golden West in a Mission Conference Central Division football game in front of 1,000 at Orange Coast.

Golden West took a 6-3 lead early in the third quarter on a 37-yard field goal by K.C. Satterthwaite. But then Crayton took over.

Crayton, a freshman from Santa Ana Valley High School, scored on a five-yard run to give the Dons a 10-6 lead later in the third quarter. The touchdown was set up by an interception by Dave Spooistra at the Golden West 12-yard line.

Crayton scored on runs of two and 77 yards in the fourth quarter. He leads his team in rushing with 976 yards this season. Rancho Santiago quarterback Scott Wood completed 15 of 25 passes for 145 yards. He was intercepted twice.

Golden West running back Sean Cheatham ran for 90 yards in 14 carries.

Rancho Santiago is 6-1 overall, 5-1 in conference play and 1-1 in divisional games. Golden West is 3-4, 3-3, 0-2.
