ON THE SIDELINES : Elia to Run Phillies Farm Team
From Times Wire Services
PHILADELPHIA —
Lee Elia, former player, coach and manager for the Philadelphia Phillies, will manage the club’s Clearwater, Fla., farm team next season.
Elia started last season as the third-base coach for the New York Yankees but was swept out in the mid-season firing of Manager Dallas Green.
Elia was eliminated as a candidate for director of player development, a job held by Del Unser, because Elia didn’t want to leave his Clearwater home to live in Philadelphia.
