The Indianapolis Colts’ struggling offense was revived by a quarterback with a sore finger and a running back with a sore leg.

Jack Trudeau passed for a season-high 255 yards and one touchdown Sunday night and Eric Dickerson became the first runner this season to gain more than 100 yards against the Jets as the Colts beat New York, 27-10. The Colts improved to 5-6 while the Jets dropped to 2-9.

The Colts, who had lost their previous three games and four of their last five, gained a season-high 424. The 27 points was their second-highest total of the season and the most since a 37-14 victory over Buffalo six weeks ago.

“Trudeau prepared extremely well this week, and it showed,” Coach Ron Meyer said of the fourth-year quarterback who broke the small finger of his left hand two weeks ago. “He played probably his best game, and a couple passes were dropped which could have made his total astronomical.”

Dickerson, bothered most of the season by a sore hamstring, rushed for 131 yards in 31 carries and scored on a one-yard run in the third quarter. It was his second-highest rushing total of the season, but only the fourth time this year he has reached 100 yards.

“We had a good mix,” Meyer said. “We kept people out of sync. We threw when they anticipated the run and ran when they anticipated the pass. Eric had a good day.”

Trudeau, who missed the last game with the broken finger, topped his previous season high of 247 yards set against New England three weeks ago.

“We let it get away from us. It got out of hand,” Jet Coach Joe Walton said. “They made some great plays.”
