The condition of two University of La Verne basketball players is serious and unchanged after a freeway crash early Sunday morning.

Andre Purry, 23, who had apparently been drinking but was not under the influence, was driving between 80 and 90 m.p.h. in heavy rain when he lost control of his car on the Pomona Freeway. A passenger, Jeffrey Schroeder, 21, suffered serious head injuries and is on life support systems at San Antonio Community Hospital.
