Gardena High won its second consecutive City Section 3-A girls tennis title Tuesday by defeating Franklin, 4-3, at the Racket Center in Studio City.
Gardena finished the year 18-0.
Senior Julie Oshiro beat her opponent 6-0, 6-1, to lead a singles sweep by Gardena. Oshiro is seeded No. 1 in the City individual playoffs, which combines 4-A and 3-A.
“We expected to sweep the singles,” Coach Daron Andrade said. “That’s what gave us the victory.”
Sophomore Mindy Watanabe and juniors Tiffany Kuwahara and Chris Ann Yamamoto completed the singles sweep for the Mohicans in the best-of-three matches.
“We have worked so hard,” Andrade said. “We’ve had a great year.”
