South Pasadena High senior Mike Fehmers, who led the Tigers to the CIF 2-A Division water polo title in November, has been named the division player of the year.

Fehmers was joined on the 2-A first team by teammates Matt Cherrie and Tim Norduett, both seniors. South Pasadena also landed seniors Robert Watkins and Larry Haggquist on the second team.

In addition, Jerry Wulf was selected as the 2-A coach of the year.

The only other first-team selection in the 2-A from the San Gabriel Valley was senior Sandor Poka of Alhambra. Senior Jerry Wooden of Rowland made the 3-A first team.

Sophomore Dana Chalais, who led Citrus College into the Southern California regionals of the state community college volleyball playoffs, has been selected Foothill Conference player of the year by conference coaches.

Chalais, a former Covina High standout, was joined on the all-conference first team by sophomore setter Monique Serna and freshman hitter Amy Young.
