BOYS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Wilkinson’s 32 Points Spark Foothill, 72-64

Mark Wilkinson had 32 points to lead Foothill High School to a 72-64 victory over Cypress in a nonleague game Saturday at Cypress.

Jared Rice had 34 points for Cypress (3-4)

In the San Dieguito Tournament:

San Dieguito 64, Valencia 50--San Dieguito’s Sean Howard scored eight of his game-high 21 points in the fourth quarter. Teammate Brian Malewics scored 18 before fouling out in the first minute of the fourth quarter. and Matt De la Pena made three three-pointers and finished with 19 points.

Torrey Pines 82, Trabuco Hills 60--Bart Brandenburg scored 21 points, including 12 of 12 free throws in the second half, to lead Torrey Pines. Torrey Pines, which trailed by five at the end of the first quarter, also got 14 points from Craig Brown and 13 each from Carter Brown and Kyle Armstrong. Chris Stevens led all rebounders with 13. Randy Kriech led Trabuco Hills with 21.

San Clemente 57, Escondido 47--In the consolation quarterfinal, Eddie Morgan had 26 points for San Clemente.

Newport Harbor 80, Vista 79--Guard Paig Parish hit a three-point shot with two seconds left to spark the Sailors (5-2) in the first round of the consolation bracket. Parish scored 18 points and had 15 assists and the Sailors’ Eddie Martinez and Huy Nguyen added 15 each.

El Modena 78, Rancho Buena Vista 65--Guard Gregg Gottlieb and forward Jeff Leedom each scored 23 points to pace El Modena (3-3) in a first-round consolation game. Rancho Buena Vista’s Darryl Parker had 24 to lead all scorers.

Dana Hills 68, Carlsbad 44--Guard Keith Barnett had 12 points and six assists to pace Dana Hills (5-2) in a quarterfinal game. Center Chris Swenson contributed 11 points, 10 rebounds and five blocked shots for Dana Hills.
