THE SIDELINES : Nattiel to Miss San Diego Game

Share

Ricky Nattiel, nursing a swollen and sore right knee, will miss the Denver Broncos’ final regular-season game at San Diego on Sunday.

Nattiel’s status for the playoffs also remained in doubt, although Coach Dan Reeves was hopeful that two weeks of rest would allow him to return to action. After the San Diego game, the Broncos will be idle a week, then start playoff action the weekend of Jan. 6 and 7.

Nattiel reinjured his knee in the second quarter of Saturday’s 37-0 victory over Phoenix. The wide receiver and kick returner had spent six weeks on the injured-reserve list with a cracked kneecap.

X-rays taken Sunday showed no structural damage beyond the cracked kneecap, but Reeves said Nattiel is experiencing severe inflammation.
