GIRLS’ BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Brea-Olinda’s McDaniel Hits Seven Three-Pointers

Aimee McDaniel scored 36 points and a tournament single-game record seven three-pointers to lead Brea-Olinda High School to an 82-59 victory over Freemont in the second round of the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions Tuesday in Santa Barbara.

It was the 32nd consecutive victory for Brea-Olinda (10-0) over the past two seasons. For Brea, Tammy Blackburn had 23 points, 12 in the fourth quarter.

In the Cypress tournament:

Marina 91, Los Alamitos 53--Melisa Sortino scored 32 points, including seven three-pointers, for Marina (7-0). Christa Yorke scored 14 points and Leslie Ono had 10 off the bench for Marina, which led, 57-23, at the half. Allison Arredondo scored 28 points, 20 in the second half, for Los Alamitos.

Mission Viejo 62, Valencia 44--Jennifer Rohrig scored a game-high 31 points for Mission Viejo. Sig Lo led Valencia with 11 points.

Mission Viejo plays Ocean View tonight at 8 in a quarterfinal-round game.

Ocean View 69, Millikan 33--Jennifer Sullivan scored 22 points and Tracy Wolfe had 17 as Ocean View (7-0) in the first round.

In nonleague girls’ basketball:

Villa Park 47, Magnolia 38--Evonne Caouette had 18 points and 17 rebounds for host Villa Park (1-5). Stephanie Hill had eight points and 17 rebounds for Villa Park.

Southern California Christian 32, Newport Christian 27--Angie Fetters had 10 points to lead host Southern California Christian. Jennifer Rebal scored 23 of Newport Christian’s 27 points.

Corona del Mar 39, Laguna Beach 30--Viivi Vanderslice had 13 points and seven rebunds and Molly Flint had 10 points and five assists to lead visiting Corona del Mar (2-6).

Dana Hills 42, Troy 17--Senior guard Joie Papa had 10 points for host Dana Hills (9-2).
