LOCAL : Brush-Fire Near Porter Ranch
Firefighters were battling a slow-moving brush-fire this morning in steep terrain in the Santa Susana Mountains north of Porter Ranch, authorities said.
The fire was reported about 9:30 a.m. in the hills north of Sesnon Boulevard and Tampa Avenue, firefighter Tim Bloom said. No injuries were reported and no structures were endangered, he said.
By 11 a.m. about three acres of brush had burned and the fire was expected to be contained this afternoon by about 50 firefighters working on the ground and using two helicopters, Bloom said.
Winds were moving at only 5 to 10 m.p.h. and were not causing a problem, but the steep terrain made the fire hard to get to from the ground, he said.
