Edison Second in Basketball Poll

Mater Dei High School remains the top-ranked team in the Orange County Sportswriters’ Assn. prep basketball poll while Edison jumps from fourth last week to second following a victory over Capistrano Valley.
Mater Dei (8-1) was idle last week and opens play this week in the Orange Holiday Tournament at Chapman College as the top-seeded team.
Capistrano Valley (8-2) was ranked second last week but fell to third after an 82-59 loss to Edison. El Toro jumps from seventh to fourth after winning three consecutive games at Carson City, Nev.
Only two teams, Tustin (9-0) and Loara (8-0), remain undefeated after three weeks of play. The writers’ poll:
