A 3.6-magnitude earthquake centered 3 miles south of Borrego Springs shook the northeastern part of San Diego County early Wednesday morning, according to the Caltech seismology laboratory.
No injuries or damage were reported, the sheriff’s office said.
The quake, deemed “relatively small” by the laboratory in Pasadena, took place at 3:54 a.m.
“It was a sharp jolt. It was over in less than a minute,” said Jean Bradley of the Borrego Springs Fire District.
The quake was unrelated to any previous quakes, Caltech said, and there were no sizable aftershocks.
