In other boys’ games:

Pasadena 58, Crescenta Valley 51--The winds of fortune that carried Crescenta Valley to consecutive one-point overtime victories shifted at Pasadena.

With its big man, Paul Matijasevic, on the bench much of the game with foul trouble, Crescenta Valley fell victim to a Bulldog surge in the final three minutes in the Pacific League game.

“It’s tough to play a championship game with your leading scorer on the bench over half the game,” said Falcon Coach John Goffredo, whose team dropped to 10-6 overall, 2-1 in league play.

Matijasevic, a 6-foot-7 center who averages 15 points a game, picked up three quick fouls in the first half and fouled out with six points with 3:23 to play.

Pasadena (14-4, 3-0) quickly took advantage of the void in the paint, mounting an 11-4 stretch run to put away the game.

The Bulldogs relied on 6-7 Todd Lewis in the middle. Lewis scored 17 points, grabbed 20 rebounds and blocked six shots. Two dunks only seconds apart gave the Bulldogs a 47-42 advantage.

Mike Johnson made two free throws on a technical foul to tie the score, 47-47, after Matijasevic fouled out.

Sophomore Bill Crockett scored the Falcons’ first eight points and tallied a season-high 20.
