OLYMPIC LEAGUE BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Bathey Leads Santa Margarita to Win

Santa Margarita High School won its fourth consecutive Olympic League game with a 69-42 victory over host Capistrano Valley Christian Friday.

Santa Margarita Guard Dan Bathey scored 13 points and center Jeff Layne added 11 points.

Jason Rodarmel scored 23 of Capistrano Valley Christian’s points.

Orange Lutheran 76, Whitney 43--Host Orange Lutheran opened the game with a pressing defense that held Whitney to five points in the first quarter and ran up a 33-16 halftime lead. Forward Kent Dowding scored 14 points and Luke Aucoin added 11 for Orange Lutheran (10-8, 4-3). Teammate Daryl Cole had 11 assists and 10 rebounds. Whitney is winless in league play.

Valley Christian 72, Whittier Christian 67 (OT)--Chris McGahey scored five of Valley Christian’s seven overtime points to drop Whittier Christian (9-8, 5-2) from first place. Ruben Oronoz scored 24 points, including three three-points shots, to lead Whittier Christian, which scored only two points in overtime.
